What fell, and what was struck?
Describe whether the television fell from furniture, tipped on its stand, or was hit by another object. Say whether you witnessed this. A cracked panel demonstrates damage but does not by itself explain the sequence. If you discovered the set on the floor, record that observation without inventing a cause.
Where safe, photograph the set, stand or bracket, and surrounding area, followed by details of the screen and casing. A detached foot, defective wall bracket, and damaged wall are separate matters. Identify their owners as well. Do not stand beneath an unstable hanging screen to photograph a serial number.
A television is not automatically mobile electronics
A policy may distinguish a television from portable devices. Univé discusses televisions on a dedicated page and includes household accidents in its description of its own cover. In your documents, look up both the event and device category. Do not apply a phone exclusion or extra module to a television without checking its scope.
Identify the version operating on the incident date and ask which provision the handler is applying. A television that spontaneously stops working raises a different question from a witnessed fall. A repairer can describe defective components; that technical description does not replace interpretation of the insurance contract.
Support the proposed remedy
Gather the purchase date, model, and available purchase evidence. Screen size alone is incomplete identification: two sets of the same size can have different specifications. A rating-label photograph or original order confirmation is clearer than a link to an arbitrary new television.
Request a proposal identifying inspection, parts, and labour. If the panel is considered irreparable, ask for the reason and any instructions concerning residual value or disposal. Retain the set until outstanding inspection requirements are clear, unless safety or another urgent reason requires otherwise; document that decision.
Compare a suggested replacement with the damaged model and ask how its valuation was calculated. A larger model you would prefer is not automatically the comparable replacement used for settlement. Identify any chosen upgrade cost separately. If the quotation includes fitting a bracket or removing the old set, ask whether those services form part of the proposal too. A single headline price can conceal several decisions.
