An insurer recommends a burglary-prevention measure while the schedule may also contain a security arrangement. That does not automatically make every tip a contractual duty. Identify the document mentioning the measure and its purpose. This matters for both appropriate action and an honest question about your current situation.
Establish the source of the arrangement
Interpolis describes its safety questionnaire as supporting prevention tips and a possible discount. Its wording explanation separately identifies schedule and conditions as forming the contract. Those information types do not automatically perform the same task.
Check for a specific measure, endorsement or additional arrangement in your policy. Record the exact text. A general online recommendation should not become a mandatory alarm for every home in your notes. Conversely, a personal endorsement is not merely optional because similar measures also appear on advice pages.
Where wording refers to a standard, certificate or professional, ask which version and evidence your arrangement requires. Do not replace a technical requirement yourself with something that seems approximately equivalent.
Make the described measure understandable
Identify the doors, spaces or circumstances concerned. Does something need to exist, be used or receive periodic checks? Those verbs differ. Buying equipment does not automatically establish every required action.
Necessary work on electrical or security systems belongs with suitable professionals. Insurance wording is not an instruction to modify technical components yourself. For the reading question, identify what is present and known.
Retain available installation and maintenance records and ask how missing details should be addressed. Do not retrospectively state a measure was continuously active where you do not know. Discuss an unknown period as unknown.
Raise a problem before deciding the outcome
If a prescribed measure appears impracticable, explain the factual restriction and ask whether another solution can be agreed in writing. Neither assume your own alternative is accepted nor declare every part of cover void yourself. Relevant provisions and circumstances require assessment.
Keep confirmation with the contract. Changed premises or use may require reconsideration, so identify the earlier arrangement when asking again.
This keeps prevention and policy duties specific. You can distinguish a tip, a discount arrangement and an applicable obligation without inventing technical compliance or a claim result. It also avoids treating an ordinary photograph of a door lock as proof that the complete security arrangement meets every contractual requirement.
